FUNERAL DIRECTORS WATFORD

Our Funeral Directors Watford services to you start when you contact us, whether by telephone or calling personally; and extend often way beyond the day of the funeral.

On initial contact we will ask for preliminary details, and if the deceased has died at home or in a Hospital, Care or Nursing home, we will arrange conveyance to one of our private Chapels of Rest.

We will then ask the family to meet us to arrange a funeral that meets the needs and requirements of those concerned.  This meeting normally takes place at one of our offices.

Relatives and friends may make appointments to visit the deceased and pay their last respects before the day of the funeral. We will only allow this on the specific permission of the applicant who is responsible for arranging the funeral.

You may be reassured that professional and personal attentions to the deceased are very important to our company. We believe that in asking us to look after a member of your family you should be certain that the best has been done for the deceased, whether you wish to visit before the funeral or not.

In all aspects of the funeral arrangements our staff will point out the procedures and legal requirements.

The Costs of the Funeral
Whilst arranging the funeral, we will advise on costs and charges to be incurred, culminating in a full written estimate so that you feel confident with the funeral commitment you have arranged.

The funeral account is divided into two separate parts, the Funeral Directors Charges and the Disbursements. It is important to understand that all charges have to be paid to Tadman’s at least 2 days before the date of the funeral.

The Funeral Directors Charges
These contain our professional fees and overhead costs which include the provision of a 24 hour on call service; our professional services in making the funeral arrangements; arranging documentation and necessary personal attentions; the conveyance of the deceased to one of our private chapels and the use of that chapel until the day of the funeral.

Your choice of coffin will be included in these charges, as will the costs for the hearse and limousine(s). The hearse for the funeral with chauffeur and sufficient bearers are an essential part of our service to you, especially when the family’s request is to go into a place of worship. The charge for the limousine is fully inclusive to cover collecting the family, taking them to the funeral address, and on to a final destination (if required), within a reasonable distance. Each limousine is chauffeur driven and will normally carry up to six mourners.

The Disbursements
Disbursements are fees that the funeral director pays out on behalf of the family i.e. Doctors Fees (where appropriate), Crematorium/Cemetery Fees and Parochial Fees for a Church or Minister etc.  Our written estimate will detail the approximate cost of any disbursements. However, you will appreciate that we have no direct control over these charges and they could, therefore, be subject to slight variations.

The choice of Cemetery or Crematorium is made by the family and usually booked by the Funeral Director. No one can be buried or cremated until the cause of death is definitely known.  There are two cremation certificates and each must be signed by a different doctor.  These Doctors fees must be paid for and are listed under Disbursements on our written estimate and printed account.  The cremation certificates are not required when the death is referred to the Coroner.

Either the family or funeral director can book the local parish Minister or Priest if required.  If you wish they would be happy to help and give support during and after your bereavement.  We also have names and telephone numbers of alternative Ministers. All will arrange to meet the family to discuss the funeral service.

Floral Tributes
The gentle beauty of flowers expresses your personal remembrance and brings comfort to the bereaved. The applicant may choose to organize this tribute personally, or we can undertake this order, and include the costs in our final account.

Donations to Charity
If donations are requested in addition to or in lieu of flowers, we can accept and list donations on your behalf and forward them in due course to the chosen charity.
