  1. Elaine Howard says:

    Dearest Dennis,

I just wanted to personally thank you for all the friendship you’ve shown me over the past three decades and to thank you for helping shape my Jim into the man he has become.

As Jim was once your apprentice, what you taught him, along with Alan, has now been passed onto two of Jim’s apprentices, in the younger generation, so your legacy and ethic lives on.

I also wanted to thank you for the kindness you showed my mother when my father died. It was a kindness that deeply touched us both and she never forgot it to her dying day; neither have I.

So rest in peace Dennis. I will always remember you with the greatest affection and never forget you. You will be greatly missed.

With love and respect, Elaine Howard

    Jim.

  4. Keith Osborne says:

Dennis was a larger than life character, who will be greatly missed. He was a generous soul and a man of action. Thanks to him the Lakehouse Lake Project was founded together with like minded residents. I was proud to be part of this group and always enjoyed a pint or two with Dennis. Rest in Peace.

    Love Keith x

  5. Keith Coffey says:

This came as real shock. I have lived in Belgrave Road for many years and Dennis has been a passing acquaintance for all that time. I will miss our chats when we passed each other. The topics were always interesting and varied. Dennis was a much loved character on our estate. I offer my sincere condolences to his family.

  6. Shirley and Jim Howard says:

Dennis, how you will always be remembered never forgotten. If all bosses were like you and Alan then the world would be a better place. Thankyou for shaping our Jim into the man he is today. Sleep well. Regards from Shirley and Jim Howard.

  7. Dan Miles says:

Dennis, words cannot convey how sad I feel in your passing, a larger than life character, my godfather. I feel blessed to have known you all my life, so many fond memories and will never forget you. Rest in peace Dennis.

  8. Sue and Stuart Ludlow says:

We have known Dennis for nearly fifty years.
Initially from the Holly Tree in the good old days, having a drink after work with Stuart, Andrew and their dad Harry.
Then as a neighbour, when we moved to Belgrave Road. Dennis fitted our new bathroom and central heating there. Always on hand for repairs to many boilers, heaters, burst water tanks and leaks over the years!
The many “do’s” at Aldersbrook Tennis club, Dennis and Olive were always in attendance.
Always at our many garden parties, and our New Year’s Eve parties.
Dennis was a helping hand work wise to Anthony, Matthew and Nicholas, during the course of their work.
Stuart and Dennis enjoyed numerous exchange visits between Ceres and Pishon Lodges, and Dennis attended both Nicholas’s and Matthew’s initiations.
Dennis was a kind, generous, family man.
We’re gonna miss you Dennis. God Bless.
From Stuart, Sue, Anthony, Matt and Nick Ludlow

  9. Alex Miles says:

    Dear Dennis
I still cannot believe that you are no longer with us. Larger than life, you were like an uncle to Dan and I growing up and a huge part of my Mum and Dads lives, the world is definitely a darker place with you no longer in it. I’m so sorry I can’t be there to say goodbye. Rest in peace Den, all our love Alex & Shell.
